Today, 300,000 French people over the age of 60 are in a state of social death: they almost never meet other people, regardless of their network (family, friends, neighbours, associations) and suffer from loneliness.
This loneliness is linked to isolation that arises from several factors: the loss of a professional network that leads to a feeling of social uselessness, the loss of one's spouse, illness, growing children or loss of autonomy… So, when you combine not only the break with a familiar environment linked to a house move but also the change of scenery linked to a move abroad, the risk of isolation and the appearance of a feeling of loneliness are striking.
But if getting old is inevitable, loneliness is not!
Le RDV des Vieux Amis fights against the isolation of middle-aged expatriates. It is a social networking website that offers to put in touch people of a certain age who wish to recreate sociable links around adapted activities in the area.
So you absolutely need three other players for a game of bridge, but "you were afraid you wouldn't find it because this game is rather old-fashioned"? Don't panic, Le RDV des Vieux Amis will find the rare gems for you!
The RDV des Vieux Amis addresses all expatriates between 50 and 101 years old who have broken with their family, friends, habits and references by leaving their country of origin and who would like to recreate a social circle in their host country around common interests.

DESIGNED FOR SENIORS
Le RDV des Vieux Amis also aims to fight against digital exclusion, which affects a large proportion of people over 60 years old, by offering a simplified, adapted and intuitive design and use. No more annoying tapping the screen!
The concept and use of Le RDV des Vieux Amis are very easy: it is a social network that allows seniors to meet around common activities and interests. We chose to offer a website first, so as not to exclude, with an application, people who would not have a smartphone.
All you have to do is register on the social network via a computer: you register your first name, your age and your city. There is no need to register very personal information such as last name or address on the site, which could cause anxiety and slow down the desire to register on the network.

THE TECHNOLOGY YOU NEED
But what makes Le RDV des Vieux Amis different from other social networks is the use of machine learning. It provides the ability to create a completely personalized and tailored profile and to flesh it out with precision and accuracy. Indeed, if your hobby is zumba (you like to let off steam by doing some squats listening to Latino music) but other types of dance don't appeal to you, you won't have to tick the generic "dance" box and even less (which is sometimes the case) the "sport" box to evoke this very specific taste for zumba.
This allows users to write whatever they want and write their entire presentation without having to tick boxes and choose binary between pre-recorded proposals.
The technology used makes it possible to be finer in the creation of profiles but especially in the matching of profiles.
Thanks to a geolocation system, the network would locate all the people around us registered on the website and sharing the same interests.
LE RDV DES VIEUX AMIS' SOURCES OF INSPIRATION
As a social network that proposes to meet people during activities in its city, our website echoes some other websites such as "Get Your Guide" or "Meet up".
The former is a booking platform for tourists to book activities. This allows you to find and book leisure activities (excursions, cooking classes, tours, indoor and outdoor activities...) around your place. Initially designed for tourist purposes, "Get your guide" can also meet the needs of expatriates who are not familiar yet with their country and their host city. While the platform does not aim to connect expatriates according to their interests, the suggested activities can however be an opportunity to meet new people.
In the same way, "Meet up" makes it possible to organize and book activities. The site helps to meet people close to one's place, around one's interests. You can even bring your friends along.
Le RDV des Vieux Amis is inspired by these services but focuses on the social integration of elderly people who are discovering a city.
